You Are Mine Cover Reveal

It’s here! It’s here! I’ve been waiting to show the cover ever since it was finished. There’s so much I could say, but I’ll let it speak for me instead. And no, it’s not on this post. I have some wonderful people who signed up with Xpresso Book Tours to help me show it off which I am extremely grateful for!

There are so many, many awesome people that signed up to help that I can’t list them all, so I decided to post the few who are giving a review with the cover reveal. And I have to say, reading their reviews gave me these crazy laughing tears (it’s probably a good thing no one was around to see it ;)) It would make both me and them happy if you gave them some comment love. And I happen to know there are giveaways…

They have all been notified and ARCs will be sent as soon as I hear from them.

For everyone else, just over a week away until you can purchase it on May 6th! Plus the cover will be fully unveiled on Wednesday, with one last sneak peek on Monday. I hope you will come take a gander! If you missed piece two, be sure to go take a look. It’s my favorite one.

Also, I have to tell you guys, this week has been so amazing. Like so amazing I’m kind of in shock. Much of this incredibly happy news is still secret so I can’t share details yet, but it’s been fantastic, both for me and others. I’m anxious for the coming weeks so you guys can know this awesomeness, too. I will tell you two things relating to YOU ARE MINE. And feel free to keep sharing YOU ARE MINE to see if we can sneak past that 80 mark. 😉

Hint Details:

1)The few who have seen the full cover are giving amazing feedback. They love it as much as I do. In fact, I think a few may even somehow managed fallen in love with it more, which I didn’t think was possible…

2)Early reviews I’m getting hints about or have been sent have left me crying (happy tears). When I’m not spazzy dancing that is.

And a bonus…

3)Okay, fine this has nothing to do with YOU ARE MINE, books, or writing, but it’s still important. Discovered Crunchy Caramel Pretzel ice cream. It’s okay to eat half a carton in one day, right? Seriously you guys, this stuff is sweet, salty, caramel, chocolate goodness. Only thing it needs is a touch more chocolate. Definitely give this one a try.

Cover — Piece Two

Last week I shared the blurb that is on the cover of YOU ARE MINE. This week I’m giving you a tiny snippet of the image. Hope you enjoy the sneak peek!

Cover Piece Two

Her expression, seen partially here, has always been what I’ve loved the most about this cover. It’s perfect for the book. What do you think?

While you’re here getting a glimpse of the cover, don’t forget that you can enter to win an eARC. Add it to Goodreads and/or share it online. Last check there were 66 adds! Thank you so much for helping me get there.  I must admit that you have already reduced me to tears of happiness with your support.

This means I’m giving away at least 2 copies. Keep sharing to see if we can get to 80 adds and giveaway 3 copies. The best response for adds so far have come from those that have recommended it to their Goodreads friends. You can find it on the YOU ARE MINE Goodreads page in the top right corner. Or any other way you’d like to help spread the word would also be greatly appreciated. And  don’t forget to enter the giveaway once you’ve helped!

You Are Mine eARC Giveaway

One of the hardest things about being self-published is getting the word out. So, I’m begging nicely asking for help to spread the word. But I can’t ask something of you without giving something back so — Those that help will have a chance to win an eARC (electronic advanced readers copy) of YOU ARE MINE before you can buy it! *cue cheering*

Plus something extra! Because I love extra prizes, more will be given away if more people add YOU ARE MINE to Goodreads. That’s right! I’m going to giveaway more books the more people that are interested. Last I checked it was at 48 adds, so I know we can push it to get extra eArcs given away.

Goodreads adds = 65 I’ll giveaway 2 eARCs

Goodreads adds = 80 I’ll giveaway 3 eARCs

Goodreads adds = 100 I’ll giveaway 5 eARCs!

Also, if it gets to a total of 100 adds on Goodreads I’ll squeal and do a happy dance that my kids will laugh at. Honestly, I’ll do the same if it reaches 60, but if it gets to 100 it will be all the crazier.

My happy dance if it reaches 100 adds on Goodreads.
My happy dance if it reaches 100 adds on Goodreads.

How can you enter? A couple ways. You can earn entries by already having it on or adding it to Goodreads, plus you can tweet, share, post it on your blog, recommend it to your friends on Goodreads, or otherwise mention it online for an entry every day. And  you can do that two different ways every day for even more bonus entries. Closes Thursday at Midnight, so let’s see how many adds we can get in four days!

I hate that I even have to say this, but… I WILL be checking the entries and deleting ones that are not legitimate, so no cheating. But I know you’re all too cool to go there 😉

Inspiration Through Music

No cover peek today, but I do have something else for you. For the next look at the cover, check back on Wednesday. But come back before then on Monday for another surprise — one in which you could win something!

With the release coming so close I wanted to share something that has not only inspired my writing, but is something I love. I can’t listen to music while I’m writing, It’s too distracting. But I often listen to music in preparation to write. Finding music the right music was tricky at first, but then I started listening to classical music. Here are a couple really helped me get in the mood.

These did amazing things for getting me in the right mood. But sometimes it still wasn’t quiet right. Then I discovered the Piano Guys. If you haven’t heard of them, they take (mostly) modern songs and give a classical twist to them. They are fantastic and clever. As my husband once said, “They are like hackers of music.” Because they find such creative ways to use their instruments and reinvent songs. A few of the following are songs that also helped me get in the mood for writing YOU ARE MINE. These songs don’t always carry the darker side of the book, mostly the hope.

What type of music inspires you? Do you listen to music to help get you in a certain mood? What are your favorite songs?

Cover — Piece One

On Monday I promised a surprise, and here it is. The full cover reveal is in two weeks. Two!  Super excited for you to see it, so much so that I’m going to cheat bit over the next two weeks and give you some sneak peeks.

Today’s peek contains the blurb. The background image has been edited out (I know, I’m mean to tease with so little). But I wanted to share the just blurb because I’m in love with it. My super-incredible critic partner, RaeChell Garrett, helped me come up with it. (and seriously guys, you should go follow her on twitter right now. Her writing is beyond fabulous. She makes characters with spark and chemistry, and always makes me laugh. I can’t wait until her books are published so you all can read them, too!). Whenever I read the blurb, it gives me chills. Enjoy!

First Review is Here

Three weeks until YOU ARE MINE is officially released! Less than a month away. I expected it to go by fast, but even with the expectation in place, the speed with which it is coming has been a little disorienting, but I’m getting used to it. The sad part is that I love spring, and I feel like it’s going to be gone before I’ve fully enjoyed it.

The very first review for YOU ARE MINE is in and it’s fantastic with 5 stars. It made me to a squeeing happy dance around the house which my two-year-old promptly mimicked.

“I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes unique magical fantasy with plenty of romance.”

“Janeal Falor is a gifted writer. I was sucked in from the first sentence. I loved Serena’s strength and her fear of being strong.”

“I am extremely anxious for book two!”  ~Terrie, a Librarian

You can see her full review here on Goodreads.

For those bloggers who are still interested in getting an eARC, you can still sign up. Also, sign ups are still open for the cover reveal if you’re interested.

Stay tuned on Wednesday for a surprise!

And until then, let me know how things are going for you. Are you enjoying spring? Is it going by as fast for you as it is for me? Are you excited for the coming summer?

My Big News

As I’m sitting down to write this little butterflies are fluttering around and quickly turning to rays of sunlight struggling to burst out of me. And I’m a touch weepy. So here we go- before I turn into a puddle.

About a year ago, I got an idea. What if girls were married off, but for something other than money. Something they had, but they couldn’t control. Like…magic! And that was the start of a Young Adult Fantasy that’s taken over my life.

About six months later, it was fully written, revised, rewritten, revised again, given to critic partners, revised again- well, you get the picture. I dutifully sent it off to a list of agents. While I had my moments of doubt like all authors do, I believed in it. It felt right, good. Replies came in. Contests were entered. There some really great comments from a few agents and other writers. People liked the bits they were seeing and wanted to see more.

But then something wasn’t feeling right. I stopped sending queries even though I still had a list of agents. I let it sit while I worked on another project. But I keep thinking about not only how much I loved my book, but other people’s response to it. I couldn’t bring myself to do nothing. I hemmed and hawed. Should I send it to agents again? Should I go directly to publishers? Should I look at smaller publishers? What would be best for me and my book?

At first the answer came slowly. It had always been there tugging in the back of my mind. But soon it was tugging harder and harder. Then it morphed into a full on yank that felt not just better than any other option, but like it was the right option. The one I needed to go with. And so I decided to self-publish. That’s right, I’m going indie!

My debut YOU ARE MINE, a YA Fantasy, will be published on May 6, 2013.

To all those who have already given me so much support and encouragement and to those of you who will help in the future thank you, thank you, thank you! And yes, I’m no longer just a touch weepy, I’m full out bawling. No, you don’t get a picture.

And typical me, I rambled longer than I meant to. So, without further ado, here’s the blurb and a link to good reads if you’d like to add it.

YOU ARE MINE

Serena knows a few simple things. She will always be owned by a warlock. She will never have freedom. She will always do what her warlock wishes, regardless of how inane, frivolous, or cruel it is. And if she doesn’t follow the rules, she will be tarnished. Spelled to be bald, inked, and barren for the rest of her life—worth less than the shadow she casts.

Then her ownership is won by a barbarian from another country. With the uncertainty that comes from belonging to a new warlock, Serena questions if being tarnished is really worse than being owned by a barbarian, and tempts fate by breaking the rules. When he looks the other way instead of punishing her, she discovers a new world. The more she ventures into the forbidden, the more she learns of love and a freedom just out of reach. Serena longs for both. But in a society where women are only ever property, hoping for more could be deadly.
