Description:

Perfection. Goodness. Elimination of evil. It’s what seventeen-year-old Kaylyn has trained her entire life to achieve. But no one is prepared for the consequences of her actually defeating all evil people on the planet. Finally successful in her mission, Kaylyn faces an unfamiliar world, full of good people doing good things, in which she no longer has purpose.

When the skies grow dark, and a stranger from another village pleads for her help, her instincts roar to life. It turns out their perfect world isn’t exactly what it seems. Kaylyn’s new quest, harder than any she’s been on before, will rip apart her friendships, her life, and her soul more than any evil man ever managed to.

And the Cover for MINE TO SPELL is…

Feel free to skip to the bottom to see the reveal (I know you want to) otherwise, enjoy thoughts on the cover choices.

Voting on the two cover choices this past week has been so much fun. When I realized there were two different cover choices for the second book the YA Fantasy Mine series, MINE TO SPELL, I was very torn not knowing which way to go with them.

Once I decided to let you guys vote on it, I thought it was going to be fun. I was wrong. It was a blast! I loved seeing what you choose and what thoughts you had behind the choice. If you haven’t read them, definitely go look through them. And while I agreed with most of what you guys had to say, there can only be one win and that winner is the one with the most popular vote.

MtS final covers

When I was looking for images for Cynthia, I found the model in both of these covers (yes, it is the same exact girl). As soon as I saw her I knew she was who I wanted to portray Cynthia on the cover. Finally! (seriously, I looked for the right cover image for about 9 months and at one point even tried hiring a cover artist) Everything about her, especially the curly, everywhere hair is spot on to who Cynthia is.

#1 was the first picture I found of her that I thought, this is the cover. The seriousness of her expression and gaze fit her a lot of what she goes through and I loved her straight on gaze. It really fit with the first book perfectly. But I continued looking for pictures just in case and found…

#2 which I fell in love with the moment I saw it. All the longing, hair, freedom, and energy in it, is Cynthia. And there gets to be a certain point in the book where it’s even more her.

But then there was still #1 that also was her. I asked family, friends, critic partners, and the results? Still pretty split, all for different reasons. So, the vote happened. I’m thrilled to have all of you a part of the process. Thank you so much for all who voted. The final count is about 25% for one and 75% for the other, though many admit to liking both so hopefully your pleased with the outcome.

The winning cover is…

Deleted You Are Mine Scenes

You Are Mine is two months old today. Two months! It’s like I sneezed and suddenly had 800 Goodreads adds, over one hundred 4 and 5 star reviews on Goodreads, and spent a lot of time on Amazon best sellers ranking, including being #29 in the Kindle eBooks > Literature & Fiction > Genre Fiction > Romance > Fantasy section along with other best seller lists!

I can’t decide if I’m scared to ever sneeze again or if I should sneeze all the time. Mostly though,

You Guys Rock!

As a big, big thank you for all your support and awesomeness, I’m giving you access to You Are Mine‘s deleted scenes with the inside scoop on them. Danielle over at Coffee and Characters was gracious enough to give a preview of one of them, and now the rest are here.

I hope you enjoy. And if you have any thoughts you want to share or questions about them, feel free let me know.

The Girl Who Published a Novel (Plus Giveaway!)

Let’s start with a little story. *passes out snacks* And stay tuned (or skip ahead) after the credits for a giveaway!

Once upon a time there was a girl who decided to self-publish her novel. The girl loved her novel and the way she felt about it was like she’d felt about no other book she’d written before. But the girl did a lot of research. The realities were kind of depressing. After much thinking, the girl decided depressing realities were fine, she’d just adjust her goal to fit reality. It was a good goal. Nice and small, fitting given the research. The girl thought she’d have to work hard to make it happen within the first three to six months. So she set out to do the best she could.

Yesterday, the girl officially published her novel. The girl was happy as several book sales happened. Then happiness turned to surprise when more happened. Then surprise into downright shock as she met her goal in one day. As the day drew to a close the girl wept tears of gratitude and joy as her goal was surpassed.

Today, the girl is giving something back. She doesn’t know what else the future will bring, but she does know she’s so very, very grateful for those who not only purchased the book, but loved it, rated it, reviewed it, and sometimes reviewed it on more than one site. And the girl is happy.

Also, the girl decided to do away with her expectations.

The End.

*roll credits*

*after the credits bonus*

As this was all happening, both yesterday and as interest increased last week, I decided I wanted to give something back. I was originally planning on giving swag and ebooks away today, but your enthusiasm and support has made it so I can giveaway something special. Along with signed bookmarks and a mug (more about said mug on Friday!), I am giving away a signed paperback of You Are Mine.

I’m so thrilled to be able to do this. With my minuscule budget, it’s a rare thing, but one I hope can be repeated in the future. For now, I hope that you will all enter. And it would make me so, super happy if you would spread the word. You Are Mine has done well, but to continue doing well, it needs a lot of love and support. If you haven’t bought it, would you please consider doing so? And if you have purchased it, would you please consider telling a friend or leaving a review on Amazon and/or Goodreads? Thank you so, so much!
