Mine to Spell Release Date

It’s official. I’ve been working on MINE TO SPELL, book two in the MINE series, for one year today. Which doesn’t even account for all the note taking and plotting I did before officially starting to write it. This is the longest I’ve ever taken to write a book.

Honestly, it’s driving me batty. 2013 ended up being crazy year, both in my writing life and personal life, which contributed to taking longer than expected. It’s also why you haven’t seen me around as much here and on social media. I’m still lurking, but almost all my writing juice is busy elsewhere. I miss you guys! But I think we’d both rather have more books out, yes? Enough explanation, off to the fun stuff!

Everything is finally coming together, writing/editing moving along faster, feedback coming in positive, almost all the words are there, and I’m doing the polishing on it now. Which means:

MINE TO SPELL will be released May 5, 2014

Cover and description will be following in the weeks to come!

You can officially purchase MINE TO TARNISH!

So excited to share this story with you. The story came very naturally and was a fun exploration of the Mine world. I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Note: This novella is only available for purchase on Amazon. If it presents a problem, please feel free to email me and we’ll see what we can work out.

What is a Novella Anyway?

questionTruth: Before I got serious about publishing a book and began researching a lot about the industry, I had no clue what a novella was. Since I’ve announce MINE TO TARNISH, I’ve gotten a lot of people who, like me, don’t know exactly what it is.

Novella short unofficial definition: Think shorter than a novel but longer than a short story.

Novella unofficial numbers definition: It varies some depending on who you ask, but typically somewhere in the range of 15,000 — 40,000 words.

What? Word count? What about page count?

The problem with page count is it varies. A lot. Font size, style, formatting are all things that can play a part. For example, YOU ARE MINE can range anywhere from 270 to 372 pages. Same exact text, over 100 pages difference!

Whichever way you look at it, YOU ARE MINE is about 94,000 words. MINE TO TARNISH is about 29,000 words. So about one third of the size. Approximately 98-128 pages depending on the format. It’s a quick read, an evening perhaps. And it officially launches in one week!

Any questions about novellas?

Cover Reveal: Mine to Tarnish

MineToTarnish Mine to Tarnish — Available December 2nd, 2013

Katherine’s place is the same as any woman’s—on the shelf next to the dresses and bolts of cloth. When she’s sold to a warlock, life grows even bleaker. Her new owner is as old and rancid as he is cruel, driving her to do the unthinkable: run.

Nothing prepared her for being on her own. And she’s definitely unprepared for the warlocks hunting her down. But she must stay one step ahead because if caught, the best she can hope for is death.

A big, huge thanks to YA Bound Tours and all those who are helping release the cover!

I’m so excited to be able to share the cover with you! Let me know what you think in the comments.

Mine to Tarnish: Cover Piece #3

It’s here! The last and best piece! Scroll for a peek.

MtTCover Piece3

Now we have the good stuff. A glimspe at Katherine. First, her eyes are closed. This was very intentional to represent who she is at the beginning of the book. And yes, she has a lot of eye make up. It’s hard to tell from this small peek, but she also is wearing the white face paint required of women in Chardonia. Eeek!

That’s it. Last peice. On Thursday the full cover will be reveal with help from YA Bound Tours!

Mine to Tarnish: Cover Piece #1

Mine to Tarnish Cover Piece1

The first thing I’m sharing is the title. It is on the place holder cover, but the one for the real cover is in the bottom left corner. This is because Katherine is on the right. And I love, love, love how she turned out! Can’t wait until you guys can see her on the 26th! Also, the background is still black. I feel this is important to mention because it won’t be for any of the future covers.

Next peice on Thursday!

Pass Along Paperback of You Are Mine

Pass along copy was won by commenter #1 Havalah!

Because I totally forgot to ask for email addresses (derp! I blame being buried in Mine to Spell edits ;), if you would email your mailing address, Havalah, I’ll get it shipped out to you!

I have a paperback copy of You Are Mine that I can’t sell because it’s technically a proof. The thing is, it’s exactly like the final version, except for the word proof printed on the last page. I debated what to do with it when the idea hit me that hopefully some readers would enjoy. A Pass Along Paperback!

  • You can read it if you haven’t already, but by saying you’d like to receive it, you’re promising to pass it on when you’re finished. If you’ve already read it and just want to pass it on, that’s fine, too.
  • It can be passed on to anyone, so long as you think they’d enjoy it AND they are willing to pass it on when they finish it.
  • I will pay postage to a US address for the first time only. Any other time it gets mailed, the mailer will have to pay the cost. (fyi, it can go as media mail which is only a couple bucks). Or you can give it away in person. 🙂

Bonus Details

  • You will have the option of writing your name and location in the book.
  • You will also have the option of taking a picture with the book and sharing it with me on facebook, twitter, or email if you so desire.

Obviously I can’t make you pass it along, but please, if you don’t want to pass it along, either purchase a copy for yourself or wait until I have another giveaway. I will be giving away more paperback copies in the future, one of which will be soon.

If you’ve read over the list and would like the pass along copy, please leave a comment below. If more than one person would like it, I will use random.org to choose a winner.
